We enable
youngsters to be better qualified to meet the challenges of the future society – a future where innovation, originality and the ability to
work with others will be key competitive parameters.
LEGO
Education Centers help children to develop their natural talents: To cooperate with others, solve problems
and express their thoughts and ideas: skills that tend to be ignored in
schools and supplemental education centers today. These are the things that we’ve become really good at over the past 25 years of working
for child-care professionals, educators and parents alike.
We have more
than 120 centers around the world. Center activities are for all ages. They are
developed and carried out by experienced teachers and trainers.
Hands-On
Learning
When children
actively construct things in the physical world it helps them to build
knowledge in their minds. Hands-on experiences allow children to use their
body-kinesthetic skills and spatial intelligence. When they do this in a
supportive environment, using opportunities to explore a variety of possible
outcomes, instead having to deliver one predetermined result, their
understanding and motivation is greatly enhanced.
At LEGO
Education Centers we give youngsters a challenge and provide the materials, the
time and the support for them to find their own solutions. We encourage them to
express their ideas and we facilitate their team work. We teach them the basics
and let them work out the rest.
Building
Potential
LEGO
Education Centers should be seen as a supplement to the traditional learning
environment: an open space where children can have fun while simultaneously
developing cross-disciplinary skills.
Center
activities meet curriculum targets in science, technology, art, design,
engineering, mathematics, and computer and communication skills. Whereas
schools are inhibited by tight time schedules, large class quotas, a perpetual
focus on performance measures, and limited budgets for hands-on resources, we
are able to take the time to inspire, challenge and support children as they
discover what they are truly capable of.
LEGO
Education Centers also offer professional
development courses for teachers and childcare professionals.
Stimulate kid’s
curiosity
LEGO? bricks have held a special place in the hearts of
generations of children and their parents. But what makes teaching material
from LEGO Education so special? What do LEGO bricks have to do with learning?
We believe
that traditional learning methods and materials tend to limit children's
natural ability to learn because they establish specific routes to reach a
given solution. Instead of having a variety of choices for solving problems
students are limited to, in most cases, just one. The result is that they
simply reproduce knowledge instead of conceptualizing it themselves.
Extra Learning Dimension
In addition
to covering important curriculum areas, LEGO Education solutions help children
to become creative thinkers, problem-solvers and effective team-workers. We
call this the Extra Learning Dimension.
We present
groups of children with a challenge, and give them the tools that enable them
to find their own solutions. In this way they experience the thrill of genuine
achievement.
The set
includes not only Lego bricks but also relevant instruction, teacher’s guide book and program designing tools. Knowledge they
gain in the activity link up with what they learn in school such as science,
design, math, etc. LEC provide a fun place outside school which is educate
meaningful.
LEGO
Education solutions are designed to cater for children’s individual needs and differences. We present them with
topics that waken their interest, and build on their existing knowledge. We set
them tasks that require that they find their own solutions in their own way.
ChrisRogers, Professor of
Mechanical Engineering at Tufts
University, USA
says:
"In my opinion, schools should teach children to be curious about the
things around them - i.e. how to solve problems and where to look for solutions
and find answers. If you give children those tools they can solve any problem.
Because LEGO Education tools allow children open-ended problem-solving,
children get curious, and with the help of the teacher children can find
answers to their questions."
